The Alzheimer’s Association is an excellent resource for those caring for loved ones who are memory impaired. Alzheimer’s Association is a non-profit dedicated to providing resources to those who are diagnosed with memory impairment and the research to find a cure for Alzheimer’s Disease.
Planning and making decisions in advance is important. Having your wishes documented and understood so when the time comes your loved ones will not be left to decide during a difficult time.
Advanced directives, along with other documents such as the POLST are designed to have your wishes for certain life sustaining procedures understood in the event you are unable to communicate such wishes. Most health professionals will ask you to complete one especially if you are facing an illness or other live altering medical issues.
